A cow was killed in a Stearns County crash early Friday morning.

According to the police report, a driver, identified as 31-year-old Christopher Madigan of Eden Valley, was driving his 2003 Cadillac Escalade southbound on County Road 9 near County Road 21 when another vehicle pulled out in front of him from County Road 21.

Madigan attempted to avoid colliding with the other vehicle and went into the east side ditch of County Road 9 as a result. Police said Madigan went into a small pasture and hit a cow.

The cow owner was notified of the situation and arrived on scene to tend to the animal but the cow died from its injuries, the report stated.

According to a news release, Madigan did not require any medical attention and alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash.
