Man killed by steel beams in traffic incident in Oakdale

March 03, 2019 03:00 PM

A man was killed in a non-crash related incident in Oakdale Saturday afternoon.

According to the State Patrol, the incident occurred on Interstate 694 southbound at 4th Street at 12:36 p.m.

Authorities say a semi-truck was on the interstate, driven by 26-year-old Nelson Masse, when he braked, causing a load of steel beams to shift into the cab of the semi-truck.

As a result, the driver was killed by the weight and force of the beams. No other vehicles were involved.

The State Patrol is investigating.
