Lowry Hill Tunnel closes for fall cleaning this week, plus 2 ramps in the east metro shut down

As construction season rolls on in and around the Twin Cities, drivers should prepare for road and ramp closures this week.

According to the Minnesota Department of Transportation, the Lowry Hill Tunnel in Minneapolis will need to close this week for fall cleaning.


As a result, traffic on Interstate 94 in both directions will be diverted to the Hennepin/Lyndale Avenue exits on Tuesday and Wednesday starting at 10 each evening until the following morning at 5 a.m. Learn more. 

Meanwhile, two busy ramps in the east metro are closing this week.

The ramps to/from Interstate 494 southbound and Tamarack Road in Woodbury will close beginning at 6 p.m. Monday. Drivers will be detoured to the Valley Creek Road interchange with I-494 until mid-November. The work is part of the I-94/I-494/I-694 interchange project.
