Drivers heading south of the Twin Cities for the weekend will encounter new lane restrictions in place along Interstate 35.
Earlier this week, I-35 was reduced to one lane on the southbound side from about Albert Lea to the Iowa border.
Work will take place between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. daily for the next couple of weeks as part of a striping project that will eventually move north to Faribault and Elko.
Meanwhile, Highway 52 is reduced to one lane in both directions near Cannon Falls for the next couple of weeks.
Drivers heading back to the Twin Cities on Sunday evening should be aware of single-lane construction on Highway 10. Be ready for slowdowns on the eastbound side of Highway 10 in Elk River between Xenia Avenue and Lowell Avenue.
The trip through there could be slower than normal this weekend as crews are in the process of completing a significant traffic shift. Concrete barriers are being installed in both directions of the road. The shift is expected to be complete by Wednesday June 9.
