Whether you're headed to the Minnesota State Fair or getting out of town for the Labor Day Holiday Weekend, you're bound to run into some work zones across the state.
Earlier this week, another ramp closure went into place in an already busy construction zone along Interstate 35 near Pine City. The ramp from I-35 southbound to Highway 70 is closed for the next couple of weeks. Drivers will be detoured to County Highway 7. Meanwhile, the roadway remains down to one lane in both directions along a seven-mile stretch near Pine City. The work continues until October. Learn more about the project.
Meanwhile, there's still plenty of construction in place along I-35 south of the metro. You'll encounter two segments of single-lane construction. One of those hotspots is in Faribault and the other is in Owatonna.
There's finally some good news along Highway 169. The single-lane head-to-head construction between Le Sueur and St. Peter will wrap up soon. The Minnesota Department of Transportation said they expect the long-term lane restrictions to clear by Tuesday. There will still be some intermittent lane restrictions in the coming weeks. Learn more about the project.
If you're traveling west of Alexandria, there's a nearly 15-mile stretch of interstate that's down to one lane. Interstate 94 between Garfield and Evansville is reduced to one lane as part of a resurfacing and bridge replacement project. While the work hasn't been causing big traffic delays, the lanes are pretty narrow, so you'll want to be prepared and use caution while traveling in the area. Learn more about the project.
Just outside the metro, Highway 10 is still under construction between Big Lake and Clear Lake. The roadway is reduced to one lane in both directions until October. As a result, there has been extra traffic on I-94. Prepare to see added delays on the westbound I-94 ramp to Highway 24 in Clearwater as well. Learn more about the project.
