WATCH 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS for the latest traffic and weather updates.

Metro area drivers might want to prepare for the morning commute to take extra time Tuesday as a result of slick road conditions.

Another round of mixed precipitation moved into the state early Tuesday with about an inch of accumulation in the Twin Cities and 4 to 6 inches expected from Moorhead to Alexandria.

KSTP Traffic Reporter Josie Smith said plows were out, helping to scrape the snow-ice covering off metro area roads and highways.

However, some drivers had a tough time with the unfavorable conditions.

Statewide, the state patrol reported 125 crashes from midnight to 9:50 a.m. Tuesday, 11 of which led to injuries - none of which were considered serious. There were also 88 reports of vehicles spinning out or going off the road.

A Metro Transit bus went off the road along westbound Highway 610 early Tuesday morning. Officials said the driver had swerved to avoid a car that pulled in front of the bus. Officials said the bus driver was uninjured and was the only individual aboard.

Meanwhile, a crash occurred on westbound Interstate 494 near Highway 169 in Bloomington.

Another crash occurred on the eastbound side of I-494 near 24th Avenue in Bloomington.

Additionally, Smith said a crash occurred on southbound Highway 65 in Ham Lake, forcing one vehicle off the road.

That crash cleared shortly afterward, however, Smith said delays in the area continued.

Smith also said ramps were trouble spots for some drivers.

Minneapolis and St. Paul public schools reported some buses were delayed Tuesday morning as a result of the road conditions.

Smith advised drivers to go slowly during the morning and afternoon commutes Tuesday.
