WATCH 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS Morning for the latest traffic updates.

It was a foggy start to the Thursday morning commute as temperatures remained in the 30s and moisture from Wednesday's rain-snow mix lingered in the air.

Track your route with the KSTP Traffic Map.

Here's a look at traffic incidents KSTP Traffic Reporter Josie Smith was following Thursday morning:

  • A crash occurred around 7 a.m. in the left lane on eastbound Interstate 494 near Highway 100. Meanwhile, a crash occurred at around the same time on westbound Interstate 94 near Dale Street. Those crashes cleared about 40 minutes later.

  • Gates were down on the Highway 100 ramps leading to the Interstate 394 MnPass lanes, which meant drivers were denied carpool lane access. However, regular I-394 lanes were not affected, Smith reported.
  • Southbound Interstate 35W near downtown Minneapolis was reduced to one lane early Thursday morning as a result of overnight work.

  • Traffic was backed up for a short time near Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport's Terminal 1. Smith reported traffic started moving again after officials had stopped a semi in the area and began directing traffic again.

KSTP Chief Morning Meteorologist Ken Barlow said the early morning fog was expected to lift, making way for a mostly cloudy day.

Looking ahead, rain is expected Friday afternoon and snow is expected to return overnight Friday into Saturday.
