Cabin-Goers Taking Advantage of Warm Weather this Weekend Will Encounter Many Busy Work Zones

September 14, 2018 07:07 PM

It could be a cabin weekend for some folks with 80 degree temperatures in the forecast for both Saturday and Sunday. If that's you, you'll want to be on the lookout for some of the state's busiest work zones.

North of the metro, Interstate 35 is down to one lane in both directions along a seven-mile stretch between the Snake River near Pine City and the Pine County Line. The good news is, the ramps along I-35 southbound to County Highway 7 and Highway 70 are open. The single lane work will continue thru the month of September. The entire project wraps up for the season in October. Learn more about the project.

Meanwhile, in north-central Minnesota, Highway 371 is closed between Backus and Hackensack through late October. Crews are in the process of reconstructing seven-miles of pavement. While the roadway remains open to local traffic, a detour is posted for everyone else. That takes you west over to Highway 64. Learn more about the project.

South of the metro, drivers are still encountering a couple of very difficult work zones along I-35. The roadway is down to one lane in both directions near Faribault. The ramp from I-35 southbound to Highway 21 in Faribault is closed for paving while a larger resurfacing project is underway. Up ahead, I-35 is still down to one lane near Owatonna for a major bridge replacement project. Both projects continue through the fall.
