It’s that time of year where there’s a road closure nearly every weekend.
This time around, there is big one in the west metro.
For those who are traveling near downtown Minneapolis, the eastbound lanes of Interstate 94 between Interstate 394 and Interstate 35W will close at 10 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday The detour takes drivers to I-394, Highway 100, Highway 62, and I-35W. The work is part of the larger I-35W: Downtown to the Crosstown project.
For the second weekend in a row, crews were expected to shut down I-94 in St. Paul for resurfacing. Crews were planning to close westbound lanes between I-35E and Highway 280 starting at 10 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday.
However, MnDOT officials reported Friday morning that the closure would be postponed due to the rain forecast.

MnDOT officials said the resurfacing closure will now take place Friday, June 28 at 10 p.m. until Monday, July 1 at 5 a.m. Crews will begin closing that stretch of interstate and affected ramps at 9 p.m. that Friday.
MnDOT officials said they’ll wait until September to resurface the eastbound lanes along I-94 between I-35E and Highway 280. At that time, they'll finish the work in two consecutive weekends.
