Are you starting to get used to all these weekend closures? If so, that's a good thing, because the 2021 construction season has just begun.

For the third weekend in a row, Interstate 94 is closing in Brooklyn Center. This weekend, the westbound side will shut down between Highway 100 and Brooklyn Boulevard. Prepare for lanes to close at 10 p.m. Friday and reopen by 5 a.m. Monday.

While two of the ramps at I-94 and Brooklyn Boulevard will reopen Monday, two will close. Brooklyn Boulevard to I-94 westbound and I-94 eastbound to Brooklyn Boulevard will stay closed through Friday, May 7.

Over on the east side, Highway 52 northbound is shutting down again from I-494 to I-94 for resurfacing. MnDOT says drivers will be detoured over to Highway 61.

"What you will see probably within that stretch is the ramps between 494 and 94 will close earlier than than 9 p.m., so mainline closes at 9 p.m., but expect some of those northbound ramps to close before then. And it will wrap up by 5 a.m. Monday," Minnesota Department of Transportation's Kirsten Klein said.

For those heading out of town this weekend, expect significant delays in the north metro. With lane shifts and lane closures along I-35W from Roseville to Lino Lakes, Friday afternoon traffic has returned.
