City officials say the bridge replacement project is now in Phase 2. Starting Friday night, the Rockford Road Bridge over I-494 will close for demolition and will be reconstructed over the next 100 days.

In the meantime, I-494 will need to close for the weekend. The interstate will shut down in both directions between I-94 in Maple Grove and I-394 in Minnetonka starting at 10 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday. Many of the ramps will begin closing at 9 p.m. The detour takes drivers to Highway 169.

In the south metro, the ramp from I-494 westbound to Normandale Boulevard in Bloomington closes. That begins at 8 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday.

In the east metro, crews will continue their work at the I-94/I-494/I-694 interchange. Interstate 94 westbound closes overnight Friday and Sunday night starting at 9 p.m. until the following day at 5 a.m. The ramp at I-494 northbound and I-94 westbound will shut down during the same time frame.

North of the Twin Cities, the ramps along I-35 northbound to Highway 70 near Pine City are closed. The detour takes motorists north to Highway 7 until July 19. The Highway 70 Bridge over I-35 remains closed, but is expected to reopen at the end of the month.

In northern Minnesota, Highway 210 is now closed between Brainerd and Ironton. The detour adds 15 miles onto your trip. Signs are posted for motorists along Highway 25, Highway 18, and Highway 6.

Bridge repairs are underway in southeast Minnesota. Motorists will encounter single lane restrictions in both directions along I-90 between St. Charles and Nodine through this fall.
