For the second weekend in a row, several miles of Interstate 494 are shutting down in the south metro.
Interstate 494 eastbound is closing between Highway 212 in Eden Prairie and Highway 100 in Bloomington for bridge painting.
Minnesota Department of Transportation officials said the project will move ahead despite rain and snow in the forecast. Crews plan to use tarps and heaters to shield the workers.
The plan is to open the new on-ramp from East Bush Lake Road to I-494 westbound shortly after Thanksgiving.
The closure kicks off at 10 p.m. Friday and wraps up by 5 a.m. Monday. Drivers will be diverted to Highway 62. Learn more about the project.
Drivers in the north metro will also encounter some lane restrictions this weekend.
Interstate 35W northbound will be reduced to two lanes between Highway 36 in Roseville and County Road 88 in New Brighton starting at 7 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday.
There are a couple of ramps that will close as well.
County Road C to I-35W northbound and County Road D to I-35W northbound will both close at 8 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday. Learn more about the project.
