It's starting to feel more and more like construction season with road closures and lane restrictions around the metro.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation tells Traffic Reporter Josie Smith that the closure along Interstate 35W in South Minneapolis will move ahead come rain or come shine this weekend.

The northbound lanes will shut down from Highway 62 to I-94, while the southbound side will close between I-94 and 46th Street starting at 10 Friday night until 5 a.m. Monday. Crews will begin closing the ramps to and from the interstate around 9 p.m. Friday. The usual detour will be in place along I-94, I-394, Highway 100, and Highway 62.

Those who travel along Interstate 94, will want to pay attention to the signage near downtown Minneapolis. More overnight closures are coming next week between I-394 to I-35W.

Monday night, the eastbound lanes will close from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Tuesday, while the westbound lanes will shut down during the same time frame Wednesday night into Thursday.

Both closures are related to the larger I-35W: Downtown to the Crosstown project.
