One person is dead following a fatal semi crash Saturday morning on Interstate 494 in Eden Prairie.

The Minnesota State Patrol said the crash happened near Valley View Road, just north of the Highway 212 interchange. Traffic cameras in the area showed emergency vehicles on the southbound lanes of I-494.

A Peterbilt semi — which was loaded with potatoes — drifted onto the right-side shoulder and into a ditch shortly after 7 a.m. The truck rolled over onto its roof, the State Patrol said.

The driver was identified as 58-year-old Mark Edward Batters, of Little Falls, Saturday evening.

There were no other vehicles involved or injuries reported, according to the State Patrol.
