Police said preliminary investigation indicated a semi - driven by 50-year-old Todd Steven Franklin of Randolph - was traveling west on Cliff Road and ran a red light, striking the SUV on its left side.

After hitting the SUV, the semi rolled on its side and spilled a large amount of sand into the roadway.

Franklin was also injured and was transported to a local hospital, but was released soon after.

A CaringBridge site for Tanaka has been set up by family members.
