Eagan Police ID SUV Driver Seriously Injured in Crash Monday

Eagan police have identified the driver of an SUV struck by a semi Monday afternoon at Cliff and Pilot Knob Roads.


A release said 33-year-old Alayna Marie Tanaka of Eagan is listed in critical condition at Regions Hospital in St. Paul as a result of injuries suffered in the crash, which occurred just after 1:30 p.m.

Police said preliminary investigation indicated a semi - driven by 50-year-old Todd Steven Franklin of Randolph - was traveling west on Cliff Road and ran a red light, striking the SUV on its left side.

After hitting the SUV, the semi rolled on its side and spilled a large amount of sand into the roadway.

Franklin was also injured and was transported to a local hospital, but was released soon after.

A CaringBridge site for Tanaka has been set up by family members.
