A Coon Rapids man was arrested for his involvement in speeding and fleeing police early Saturday morning. 

According to the Chisago County Sheriff's Office, the incident began around 2:25 a.m., as a deputy with the Chisago County Sheriff's Office witnessed a vehicle southbound on Interstate 35 driving at a speed of 118 miles per hour. The posted speed limit in that zone near North Branch is 70 miles per hour. 


The deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver fled. The deputy continued to pursue the driver as the vehicle exited on Highway 95 and traveled westbound on Highway 95. The driver, later identified as 20-year-old Nile Jones-Vogt, from Coon Rapids, then turned southbound onto 301st Avenue Northeast in North Branch Township. 

In total, Jones-Vogt fled with the vehicle for 3.7 miles. The release states Jones-Vogt drove a short distance on 301st Avenue Northeast and stopped the vehicle. He and two other occupants proceeded to flee on foot. One passenger stayed seated inside of the vehicle. 

Eventually, Jones-Vogt and the two occupants who fled were located and arrested without incident, according to the sheriff's office.

Jones-Vogt was booked at the Chisago County Jail for fleeing police in motor vehicle (felony), fleeing police on foot (misdemeanor), reckless driving (misdemeanor) and underage drinking and driving (misdemeanor). 

Passengers include 20-year-old Noelle Stockhausen of Minneapolis, 19-year-old Katelyn Gitzen of Coon Rapids and a 20-year-old from Andover. Stockhausen was booked for underage consumption of alcohol and fleeing police on foot. Gitzen was booked for fleeing police on foot as well. The 20-year-old from Andover was cited for misdemeanor-level drug possession and released.
