Authorities have identified the victim of a fatal crash in Ramsey Wednesday morning.

The crash occurred along westbound Highway 10 at Jarvis Street, near Alpine Drive.


The Minnesota State Patrol incident report said a Kenworth semi was headed west on Highway 10 at about 6:13 a.m., and was accelerating from Jarvis Street when a Hino semi rear-ended the Kenworth.

The driver of the Hino died from his injuries.

He has been identified as Jose Claudio Jimbo Llapa, 40, of Columbia Heights. According to the incident report, Llapa was not wearing a seat belt, and authorities believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.

The driver of the Kenworth was not injured in the crash.
