The Minnesota Department of Transportation is warning motorists to expect delays on Interstate 494 this weekend due to construction work.
MnDOT says westbound I-494 in South St. Paul will be reduced to a single lane at 8 a.m. Friday. The closure will specifically affect the stretch of I-494 between Highway 61 and Hardman 7th Street as crews pour concrete for the Concord Street bridge. All lanes are expected to reopen by noon Saturday.
The lane closures are part of a larger project on I-494 where crews will widen, resurface and replace bridge joints on the Concord Street/Highway 156 bridge, construct auxiliary lanes on westbound I-494 between Hardman Ave. to west of 5th Ave., and improve drainage and construct noise walls.
