Construction in downtown Minneapolis is causing frustration among some residents and drivers. One particular area of concern is along Fourth Street between First and Fith avenues.

To add to the congestion, the Minneapolis Police Department 1st Precinct in downtown Minneapolis is still blocked off.

"They’ve blocked down all the alleyways. People are driving down Nicolett now, Nicolett Mall. They’re going the wrong way down Fourth," said Scott Raveling, who lives nearby. "It’s kind of a free-for-all."

Others say it may be inconvenient, but it’s all expected when living in a growing city.

"As long as you’re following the directives that the streets are giving, it’s pretty easy. I can see how some people would be annoyed that you have to go an extra block to get to your apartment, but as long as you’re following the directives, it’s pretty good," said Trevor Omann, who lives downtown. "They’re just reconstructing the street to make it better for everyone and more accessible, make it better for bikers, make it better for pedestrians."

Minneapolis city leaders say there are already plans to remove the barriers by the1st Precinct, but it depends on when the contractors can get to it.

Minneapolis has a map where you can find information on when street construction is scheduled to end.
