2-year-old dies from injuries in Coon Rapids crash

After a family of four were injured in a four-vehicle crash Saturday afternoon in Coon Rapids, a two-year-old boy died from injuries sustained in the crash on Wednesday. 

An update provided on the family's GoFundMe account stated the following:

"With deep regret we inform that little Gautam Pujari passed away this morning at 8:52 am central time (12/4/2019, Wednesday). We thank you all for the prayers and support. At this point of time, the family is requesting privacy to mourn and grieve the loss of Gautam."

Another child injured in the crash, Sinchana Pujari, 5, sustained serious injuries. There was no update on the five-year-old's injuries. Both children were inside a Toyota Camry driven by their father, 37-year-old Suresh Shrimant Pujari, who had minor injuries from the crash. Their mother, Mamanta Patil Bovi, 37, sustained serious injuries from the incident. 

Victims identified in Coon Rapids injury crash

The Anoka County Sheriff's Office said emergency personnel responded to a multi-vehicle crash with injuries just before 4 p.m. in the area of Main Street Northwest and Shenandoah Boulevard Northwest.

The crash report states that a Dodge Ram pickup was headed eastbound on Main Street and was seen skidding sideways before hitting and crossing the median and striking a westbound Toyota Camry head-on. Two other vehicles traveling westbound were also hit as a result of the initial impact.

The driver of the pickup has been identified as Pedro Ricardo Flores, 54, of Blaine. He is in custody on probable cause of third-degree DUI and third-degree criminal vehicular operation. At this time, no formal charges have been filed.

The crash is under investigation. No other information is immediately available.
