1 seriously injured in Minneapolis crash involving Metro Transit bus

One person was seriously injured in a crash in Minneapolis that involved a Metro Transit bus Tuesday evening, according to Minneapolis police. 

Police said officers received a report of a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed near Portland Avenue and 15th Street. 


When officers responded, they came upon a crash at Portland and Franklin Avenues. 

Police said a preliminary investigation indicates the suspect vehicle blew a red light, struck a sprinter van, which rolled over and hit a Metro Transit bus. 

One person in the sprinter van was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center with a skull injury. Police said the person is in serious condition. 

Minneapolis police spokesperson John Elder said two people were taken to the hospital and one was admitted with injuries considered to be minor.

The suspect fled the scene and is still at large, however, officers apprehended the passenger in the suspect vehicle, according to police.
