Zimmer on Vikings defense: 'They're on the right track'

Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer challenged his defense to bring more intensity to the practice field last week at Vikings Training Camp and he's seen good results lately.

"They’re on the right track, we just got to continue going," Zimmer said before Monday's practice in Eagan. "Understanding we got to go out every day and compete and perform and try and get better each and every day. I have a vision of what this defense is supposed to look like and I have very high standards for the defense. I expect them to live up to my expectations, so I’m going to keep pushing them until we get there."

Third year cornerback Mackensie Alexander is one of the players who's made big strides from last training camp to this one.

"If you asked me who has turned the corner as far as going in full boat, as far as coaching and believing in the system and all that, I think Mackensie would be the number one guy from where he started, which was not the best. He has done a great job now; he takes extra reps and I see him coaching the young guys. It is way different and I am proud of him."
