Wednesday night, Zach Parise skated in front of fans for the first time since a freak injury to his sternum in Game 3 of the Wild's playoff series against Winnipeg.

Parise and a collection of NHL and college players - mostly native-Minnesotans - were at Braemar Arena in Edina for opening night of the third season of "Da Beauty League".

Parise's injury last April came after Ryan Suter broke his leg with four games left in the regular season.  Parise had scored in all three playoff games before the injury ended his season.  The Wild's season ended two games later.

Prior to the injury, Parise had been on fire - scoring 15 goals in the final 21 games he played.

The sternum injury at the end of the season came after Parise had been sidelined the first couple months of the season following a microdisectomy procedure on his back.

"Da Beauty League" grew from an loosely-organized weekly skate for local hockey players. In three years it's grown into an exhibition league with six rosters packed with big names from the local hockey scene and packed houses each week at Braemar Arena.

The league plays every Wednesday night through the Championship Game on August 22nd - as well as Monday, August 20th for the Semifinal round.
