X Games Minneapolis kicked off Thursday night with finals in two events.

Outside of U.S. Bank Stadium, last year's silver medalist Jimmy Wilkins took the gold in the Pacifico Skateboard Vert Final. Wilkins, 24, put up a score of 89.00 on his first run and was able to hold off defending champion Moto Shibata.

Closing out the night was Vince Byron winning his second straight gold in the Pacifico BMX Vert Finals. The Australian floated tricks like an explosive flair whip and a massive 540 flair to win with a score of 91.00.

Friday's action in Minneapolis ramps up with a total of seven finals including the Next X Skateboard Street and Park, BMX Street, Dave Mirra’s BMX Park Best Trick, Moto X QuarterPipe High Air, The Real Cost BMX Big Air, and the fan-favorite Moto X Freestyle Finals.
