Wild defenseman Matt Dumba will undergo surgery next week for an upper-body injury, and miss a significant amount of time, per general manager Paul Fenton.

The initial thought was that this would be a short-term injury, but a second opinion led to the decision to undergo surgery next week. Fenton said he wants to protect Dumba, so won't divulge right now specifically what body part is injured.

Dumba last played last Saturday vs. Calgary, and got into a fight in the first period. He returned later that period, before missing the 2nd and 3rd periods.
