First period goals by Blake Meister and Lleyton Roed staked White Bear out to a 2-0 lead through one.

Hill-Murray's Matthew Fleischhacker cut the Bears lead to 2-1 7:11 into the second.  That goal, and a power play shortly after had the Pioneers riding a huge momentum boost.

But the games' biggest moment turned things 180-degrees.

After Hill-Murray had a solid scoring chance on White Bear goalie Evan Foss, the Bears top scorers engineered a game-changing moment.

Meister raced up the right side with the puck, gained the zone and spotted Chase Bill crashing straight down the slot.  Meister fed Bill, who made a deft deke to his backhand and slid the puck under Pioneer goalie Remington Koepple.

Bill's shorthanded goal came 1:14 after Hill-Murray had cut the lead to one, pushed the Bears lead back up to 3-1, and turned out to be the eventual game-winner.

Hill-Murray's Henry Eischen scored late to make it a one-goal game with 1:15 left.

But as the horn sounded, White Bear Lake held on for a 3-2 win.

It's the Bears 5th win in 16 Section Final meetings with Hill-Murray and gives them their 19th all-time trip to the State Tournament.  They are still seeking their first-ever State Quarterfinal victory.

They'll open play in the Class AA Quarterfinals on Thursday.  Seedings will be announced Saturday morning.
