Wayzata football advances to Class 6A semifinals

The Wayzata Trojans football team defeated the Centennial Cougars 38-21 Friday evening at Chanhassen High School to advance to the Class 6A semifinals.

The Cougars hung around all game, but a huge fumble was recovered by Wayzata's Drew Berkland and returned for a touchdown to put the Trojans up 24-14 at the half.

Wayzata's defense stepped up in the second half and shut the Cougars out. The Trojans scored two second half touchdown behind star running back Christian Vasser.

The Trojans will now face Lakeville South next Friday at US Bank Stadium.
