Walker's goal in overtime gives Gophers 3-2 win over Niagara

Sophomore captain Sammy Walker scored 46 seconds into overtime as the Gophers men's hockey team beat Niagara 3-2 Friday night in their home opener at 3M Arena at Mariucci.

Sophomore Sampo Ranta and freshman Jonny Sorenson scored the Gophers' other two goals.

Jack Lafontaine made 25 saves for Minnesota.

The Gophers (2-1) play Niagara again Saturday night at 7:00 p.m.
