Zimmer Ready For Challenge Posed By Saints

Vikings coach Mike Zimmer is game-planning against one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history in Drew Brees.

And Zimmer touched on Brees' brilliance, among many topics, at Wednesday's news conference.

"Each week we have a rush plan going into the ball game, depending on who the quarterback is and where he sets, how fast he gets the ball out and all the different things," said Zimmer, whose team faces Brees and the Saints in the divisional round of the NFC playoffs Sunday. "They move the pocket well, sometimes they run sprint-outs and sometimes they run boots that are maximum protection things, shots down the field.

"All those things you have to be aware of. But yes, we have to rush him differently than we would some other guy. I've always said that when you play a great quarterback it's always a combination of rush, coverage and disguise," said Zimmer.

Sunday's matchup with New Orleans will feature the Saints, with the 2nd best offense in the NFL, against the Vikings, who boast the best defense in the league.

Things are scheduled to kick off at 3:40 p.m. Sunday at U.S. Bank Stadium.
