Zimmer on Vikings QB Sloter: 'There’s a lot of things he has to get better at if he wants to be the back-up'

Vikings coach Mike Zimmer was very candid on a few topics at his news conference Tuesday, including quarterback Kyle Sloter's chances to be Kirk Cousins' backup.

Zimmer on Sloter: “There’s a lot of things he has to get better at if he wants to be the back-up quarterback." Zimmer expounded on some of the things that Sloter has to work on.

Zimmer was also open on where defensive end Stephen Weatherly needs to improve, why Mike Boone's runs aren't the most impressive thing right now about him, and more.

Zimmer added that defensive tackle Linval Joseph, who underwent offseason shoulder surgery, should return to practice this week.

The Vikings' third preseason game is Saturday at home vs. Arizona. Kickoff is at 12 p.m. Most starters are expected to play the whole first half.
