Zimmer was also open on where defensive end Stephen Weatherly needs to improve, why Mike Boone's runs aren't the most impressive thing right now about him, and more.

Zimmer added that defensive tackle Linval Joseph, who underwent offseason shoulder surgery, should return to practice this week.

The Vikings' third preseason game is Saturday at home vs. Arizona. Kickoff is at 12 p.m. Most starters are expected to play the whole first half.
