August 14, 2018 01:29 PM

Vikings secondary coach Jerry Gray gets to work with All-Pros, first round picks, savvy veterans, and undrafted free agents. The Vikings' secondary is as talented and deep as any in the NFL.

Our Darren 'Doogie' Wolfson caught up with Gray on Tuesday morning.

Gray joined the Vikings in 2014 when Mike Zimmer took over, and he's been an assistant coach at either the collegiate or pro level since 1995. He previously was the defensive coordinator for both Buffalo (2001-2005) and Tennessee (2011-2013).

Gray gets to coach Pro Bowlers Harrison Smith and Xavier Rhodes, while getting to help mold former first round picks Trae Waynes and Mike Hughes. It also helps to have savvy veteran Terence Newman in the meeting room and on the field to offer guidance.

The Vikings return their entire secondary that helped the 2017 defense have the No. 1 ranking in the NFL.
