Performance vs. Dolphins more proof Mackensie Alexander turning corner at nickel for Vikings

December 17, 2018 03:11 PM

Vikings cornerback Mackensie Alexander had perhaps his best game of the season in the win over Miami. He had a sack, defended passes, and only allowed two catches for four yards. He has taken a monster step forward this year, focusing solely on the nickelback role.

His sack of Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill gave him four for the season, which ties Robert Griffith for the single-season team record for a defensive back.

We talked to Alexander in the locker room on Monday, and his main talking point centered around being happy that he's helping the team win. He's turned into a team-first player, and admitted that he's matured a lot this year.

Alexander's step forward has been instrumental with Mike Hughes tearing his ACL earlier in the season. He plays exclusively in the slot, and has a lot of responsibility, which he has handled very well.
