O'Neill was in attendance Sunday at Target Field, as Mauer put on the catching gear one final time and caught a pitch from Matt Belisle. While Mauer, 35, hasn't officially announced his retirement, Sunday's festivities certainly offered some hint. Mauer's 8-year, $184 million contract expires in November.

O'Neill spent time with Mauer as recently as early last week, and counts pitching to him in the 2009 Home Run Derby in St. Louis among his best memories.
