Twins Announce Coaching Staff

The Minnesota Twins announced their 2019 coaching assignments under first-year manager Rocco Baldelli.

Wes Johnson was officially named their new pitching coach. Johnson spent the last two seasons as the pitching coach for the University of Arkansas baseball team. 


Former Colorado Rockies first base coach Tony Diaz will be the Twins new third base coach and Tommy Watkins takes over as the Twins first base coach. Watkins served in many different coaching roles in the Twins minor league system since 2010 and played 12 seasons in the Twins organization, including nine games with the Twins in 2007.

Bench coach Derek Shelton, hitting coach James Rowson and assistant hitting coach Rudy Hernandez are all carry-overs from the 2018 coaching staff.
