Top-seed Warroad takes Class A Girls Hockey opener over St Paul United

The top-seed in the Class A Girls Hockey Tournament made the 6-hour, 353-mile trip from their home in Warroad to take their State Quarterfinal from St Paul United by a 4-0 shutout.

State-leading scorer Hannah Corneliusen opened the scoring 4:20 into the first before Genevieve Hendrickson took the game over.


The Warroad sophomore rang up a natural hat trick with one goal in the first period and two more three-and-a-half minutes apart in the second.

Warroad goalie Quinn Kuntz made 18 saves to earn the shutout victory.

The Warriors face the winner of Wednesday's final Class A Quarterfinal between Rochester Lourdes / Dover-Eyota and Proctor/Hermantown in the semifinals at approximately 1pm on Friday.  That game will air live on 45TV and live stream at
