Timberwolves Waive Bloomington Native Cole Aldrich

The Timberwolves announced that center Cole Aldrich has been waived. Today was the deadline for a decision, or else his 2018-2019 salary of nearly $7M would've become fully guaranteed.

The Wolves will still take nearly a $2M cap hit, and a league source tells our Darren 'Doogie' Wolfson that the plan is to stretch that hit over the next three years. In other words, the Wolves will have salary cap hits of about $700K each of the next three years. They could've taken the full hit immediately, if they chose to. A final decision on how to take the cap hit isn't needed until Monday.

Aldrich played minimally in his two years for the Wolves, but still thoroughly enjoyed his time. Wolfson talked on the phone with Aldrich on Saturday afternoon and he was incredibly complimentary of his time here.

Aldrich, 29, is from Bloomington and starred at Bloomington Jefferson high school.
