Wolves second round pick Jaylen Nowell is expected to sign a contract Tuesday, a source told KSTP's Darren 'Doogie' Wolfson. The Timberwolves later confirmed that Nowell had signed.

The sides had been negotiating for weeks over guaranteeing a second year. In the end, Nowell, 19, will get $1.4M, which is tied for the most money guaranteed to any second round pick for the 2019-2020 season. The Wolves can claim a win by getting Nowell for three additional seasons through 2022-23 on team options.

The Wolves selected Nowell with the 43rd overall pick in June.

The 2019 Pac-12 Player of the Year led Washington to the conference championship and its first NCAA Tournament berth since 2011. One of the best players in Huskies history, Nowell averaged 16.2 points per game last season, while shooting 50 percent from the field and 44 percent from 3-point range.

Nowell sat out Vegas Summer League with a minor injury.
