Morgan was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week, while Winfield was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week.

Morgan threw for 339 yards and three touchdowns, completing 18 of his 20 passes, to help lift the Gophers to their ninth win of the season. With his performance, he became the second FBS quarterback in the last 20 years to have multiple games completing 90% of his passes (min. 20 attempts) in a single season, the Minnesota Athletic Department said. Morgan completed 21 of 22 passes in a win over Purdue on Sept. 28. Former Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston is the only other quarterback to do so, which he did during his Heisman Trophy-winning season in 2013.

Meanwhile, Winfield had an outstanding game against the Nittany Lions, too. He led the Gophers with a team-high 11 tackles (nine solo) and intercepted two passes, totaling 33 return yards. His two interceptions led to 14 points for Minnesota and pushed his total number of interceptions on the season to seven, which ties a school record set by Jeff Wright in 1970.

The awards are the third for Morgan in his career and the fourth for Winfield.

Minnesota has now had eight players named Big Ten Player of the Week this year, tying a school record set just last season.

The 9-0 Gophers visit Iowa at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
