St Louis Park Football Making First-Ever State Tournament Appearance

The Minnesota High School Football State Tournament began in 1972.  Before then, there was only a mythical "State Football Champion". While St Louis Park may have been in the mix back then, this year they earned their first-ever appearance in the State Tournament.

St Louis Park advanced to the State Quarterfinals with a mild upset over rival Robbinsdale Cooper.  Cooper had beaten the Orioles in week two of the regular season.

The Orioles face Brainerd in St Cloud on Saturday in the State Quarterfinals.

The winner will advance to the Class 5A State Semifinals at U.S. Bank Stadium next week.
