Rochester John Marshall's Matthew Hurt chooses Duke as college destination

Rochester John Marshall senior Matthew Hurt announced on Friday that he'll play basketball at Duke University. 

Hurt scored 3,819 points and pulled down 1,461 rebounds in his career at John Marshall. Among Hurt's other college options were Minnesota, Kansas, Kentucky and the University of North Carolina.


Hurt, a 6-foot-9, 215-pound forward, is a five-star recruit and considered the 8th best high school senior the nation according to 247Sports. At Duke, Hurt will have the opportunity to play with Tre Jones of Apple Valley who decided not to turn pro after his freshman season.
