Minneapolis Church Sees Opportunity After Vikings' Miracle Play

Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Minneapolis is looking at the miracle play that ended the Vikings' playoff victory over New Orleans last Sunday as an opportunity.

Right after the game ended, on a 61-yard touchdown catch by Stefon Diggs as time expired that lifted the Vikings to a comeback victory, they sent out a Facebook post saying "you're welcome."

As in "you are welcome" to come to mass.

It's been a big hit.

"And we thought 'Wouldn't it be fun if we get a thousand likes,'" Our Lady of Lourdes communications director Julie Craven said. "It is in the millions. It's gone viral and it is on all the major sports outlets.

"It's just crazy."

The Facebook post read: "If you made any promises during the last ten seconds."

You also see the Minnesota Vikings logo and a list of mass times.

Craven said they're having fun reading all the comments.

"And a couple of my favorites are blowing up," she said. "Facebook for Jesus; another was pigskin prayers; a combination of sports fever and Catholic guilt."

The post has also gone viral on Twitter and Instagram.

Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church has masses at 8:30 and 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Sundays.

Although attendance may be down at this Sunday's evening mass.

The NFC Championship game between the Vikings and Eagles kicks off at 5:40 p.m. in Philadelphia.

Our Lady of Lourdes Pastor Daniel Griffith was born in Wisconsin and is a Packers fan.

But Craven said even he's starting to believe this may be the Vikings' year.
