North Prevails in State Football Semifinal "Battle of Lakeville"

Lakeville North created a rematch with Eden Prairie with the Class AAAAAA championship at stake following its 35-13 victory over Lakeville South in the semifinals on Friday, Nov. 16 at U.S. Bank Stadium.

Senior running back Brian Curtis, Jr., rushed for 214 yards on 25 carries and scored a touchdown while teammate RaJa Nelson, a junior wide receiver and back, rushed for 174 yards and three touchdowns to power the Panthers (12-0) into the big-school title game with Eden Prairie, the defending Class AAAAAA champion. In Week 2 of this season, Lakeville North recorded a 14-0 victory over Eden Prairie.

Lakeville North compiled 420 rushing yards and averaged 7.2 yards per carry in defeating crosstown rival, South, for the second time this season. In Week 4, Lakeville North rolled to a 28-3 victory.

Junior running back Johnny Shabaz paced the Cougars (6-6) with 91 yards and briefly gave Lakeville South a lead following a 31-yard touchdown run.
