Two Minnesota United FC players have been named to the 2019 MLS Best XI, which recognizes the league's top players at each position as determined by the media, MLS players and MLS club technical staff.

Loons goalkeeper Vito Mannone and defender Ike Opara made the list of 11, according to a news release from the team.

Opara was named the 2019 MLS Defender of the Year, leading the team to a massive turnaround from season's past on defense.

Mannone was named the 2019 Allstate Goalkeeper of the Year and assisted in leading the third-biggest defensive turnaround in league history for Minnesota United FC. He ranked second in the MLS with 129 saves and became the 28th goalkeeper in MLS history to record double-digit saves, according to the release.

The team lost their first and only playoff appearance in the franchise's history in 2019, losing by a score of 2-1 to the Los Angeles Galaxy in front of a sold-out Allianz Field crowd earlier this month.
