The Minnetonka Skippers girls soccer team defeated the Edina Hornets 3-0 Tuesday evening to win Section 2AA and advance to the state tournament, where they will try to repeat as state champions.

The two teams split the regular season series, and Edina came in the higher seed. However, Minnetonka struck first and didn't look back.

Senior Emilia Johnson scored on a free kick in the first half to put the Skippers up 1-0. Just minutes later, sophomore Claire Carver scored to make it a 2-0 game.

Late in the second half, junior Lissa Mizutani scored on penalty shot to make it 3-0 and effectively ice the game.
