Minnetonka duo won gold for USA at World U-18 Hockey Tourney

Usually, Maggie Nicholson and Rory Guilday wear the white and blue of the Minnetonka Skippers.

Over Christmas break, they were in red, white and blue skating for the United States at the World Under-18 Hockey Championships in Slovakia.

This was Nicholson's third trip to the World U-18's.  Guilday was a rookie on this year's team.

The US beat Canada 2-1 in overtime to win the gold medal.  Nicholson assisted on the gold medal-winning goal late in overtime.

It was the 12th time in 13 years the USA has played Canada in the gold medal match.

Nicholson is committed to the University of Minnesota next season. Guilday, a junior, is committed to Cornell.
