The Minnesota Wild announced two free agent signings on the first day of free agency.

Mats Zuccarello signed a five-year $30 million contract with the team that will extend through the 2023-2024 season. Zuccarello, who is 31, spent last season with the New York Rangers before being traded to the Dallas Stars at the trade deadline. He recorded 40 points in 48 games between the two teams. The Oslo, Norway native is the all-time leading Norwegian-born scorer in NHL history.

Wild General Manager Paul Fenton said of Zuccarello, "He brings a high level of skill and character to our lineup and we're very excited to add him to our team."

He set career highs in games played and was tied for second in the league in blocked shots with 39. Hartman has scored 89 points in 245 NHL games in his career.

Fenton praised Hartman saying, "His compete level is what we are looking for from our team each and every night."
