The Minnesota United announced Monday that one of their players has been selected to represent the team at the 2019 MLS All-Star game.
A release said defender Romain Métanire was selected by All-Star head coach James O'Connor of Orlando City. The matchup will feature the MLS All-Stars taking on 10-time La Liga champions Atlético de Madrid on July 31. The match is set to begin at 7 p.m. in Orlando.
Métanire has been a standout player on both ends of the field for the Loons so far this season.
He leads the team with six assists in 14 appearances, and is currently on a three-game point streak. The Madagascar native has made four MLS Team of the Week appearances, including consecutive features in weeks 12 and 13 after scoring a goal and providing an assist in back-to-back clean sheet performances.
