Twins claim 1B C.J. Cron off waivers from Tampa Bay

The Minnesota Twins announced Monday that the team has claimed first baseman C.J. Cron off waivers from Tampa Bay.

Cron played in 140 games for the Rays last season, batting .253 with 28 doubles, 30 home runs and 74 RBI. New Twins manager Rocco Baldelli was a member of the Tampa Bay coaching staff.

Cron's career average after playing parts of five seasons at the major league level stands at .260.

With his addition, the Twins roster now stands at 39 players.
