Whalen began the press conference by making a statement about suspended junior Destiny Pitts. Pitts was suspended on January 12 for “conduct unbecoming as a member of the team." Whalen said Pitts will not practice with the team, she will not play against Iowa on Thursday, and her status on the team is still being determined.

Whalen also said that sisters Taiye Bello and Kehinde Bello have been reinstated and will begin practicing with the team Wednesday afternoon. Their status for the Iowa game is still undetermined. Whalen made it clear that the Bello suspensions -- they each sat out one game so far -- had nothing to do with the Pitts suspension.

Finally, Whalen talked about the new WNBA collective bargaining agreement and how happy she is for the future of WNBA players.
